Keith Harrington

Coach | Invercargill

I am passionate about helping churches reflect God’s heart through godly, sustainable leadership, and about bringing churches together in unity.

I began training as an architect before entering ministry. After serving at Valley Road Baptist in Auckland, I moved to Tasmania to train at WEC Missionary Training College. I later completed an MA in Ministry through Pacific College.

After marrying Ros, I returned to my hometown of Invercargill to plant Eastside Baptist Church in a state-housing area. Over nine and a half years, we saw it grow from a home group into a self-sustaining church. Eastside reached people who might not have felt at home in a typical middle-class church. Thirty-five years later, it continues to thrive, now serving many former refugees.

In 2002, sensing God’s call to develop my leadership gifts, we moved to Taupō Baptist, a larger, multi-staff church. In 2015, we returned to Invercargill, where I lead Central Baptist Church—the church that helped plant Eastside. Central has a strong intergenerational culture and thriving children’s and youth ministries.

My primary gifts are preaching and leadership. I also coordinate Churches Together Invercargill, a network of more than 20 churches working together to extend God’s kingdom in the city, inspired by Jesus’ prayer in John 17.

Coaching allows me to share 34 years of ministry experience and help leaders navigate challenges in their own contexts. I love seeing leaders thrive and churches of every size reflect God’s character.

Ros and I have been married for 35 years and have two adult children and one “ruined” dog. I enjoy reading, tennis and woodworking.
