Talofa Lava and Warm Greetings
My name is Enosa Auva’a, and I was born in beautiful Samoa before migrating to New Zealand with my parents in 1970. When they returned home a few years later, I remained in Auckland to complete my secondary education at Mount Albert Grammar School, a journey that taught me independence, resilience, and faith.
I am blessed with an intercultural marriage to my wonderful wife of English descent. Together we have raised four grown children (afakasi) and are now proud grandparents to twelve amazing grandchildren, each exploring their God-given talents and callings, from law and school principalship to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church.
My guiding purpose is to live life to the full as Jesus promised (John 10:10). I am passionate about family, faith, sports, and people. My calling is to walk alongside others, to listen, encourage, and empower them to reach their God-given potential.
With more than 26 years as a primary school principal in Auckland, I have developed strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills. I was honoured to receive a Fulbright Award in Educational Research (Hawaii, 2010), and to serve as the founding President of the New Zealand Pasifika Principals’ Association (NZPPA) from 2006–2017, as well as on the Executive of the New Zealand Principals’ Federation (2015–2017).
My leadership experience extends across education, governance, church ministry, and community development, including advisory roles with the Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, university boards, and non-profit organisations.
Currently, I serve as Minister of Tauranga in the City Presbyterian Church (since 2022) and have held eldership and national church governance roles since 1982. Alongside ministry, I continue to enjoy coaching rugby and cultural groups, drawing from both my Samoan heritage (honoured with the matai titles Auvaa, Unasa, and Tupuola) and my heart for intercultural connection.
As a coach and mentor, I bring energy, warmth, and a listening ear. My focus is to help individuals and teams strengthen their leadership, build sustainable practices, and live out their calling with joy and confidence.
